2 Survey objectives and outcome Understanding and identifying the required capabilities and relationships to build a successful SDG strategy is a challenge for private companies. The survey covered a sample of private sector companies operating in Tanzania. The knowledge creation on the level of SDGs awareness and engagement among private companies and citizens alike. This will serve as an important advocacy and communication tool for all stakeholders working on the SDGs in Tanzania. Benchmarking of private companies’ preparedness in terms of implementation and measurement of the SDGs.

4 Demographic profile of survey respondents The total participants for the survey were 279 of the targeted 350 respondents; Of these, approximately 65.6% (n=183) were from the private sector; Private sector respondents were asked if they were aware of the SDGs – 57.4% responded affirmative to this question. 12 Measurement and impact of goals About 9 in 10 respondents said that if they know an organisation had signed up to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) it would make them more likely to use their goods or services. Approximately 4 in 10 are aware of tools that can help them assess and establish which Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) their business has an impact on. Approximately 3 in 10 are clear on how they will measure their business impact/contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).
