1 Student Orientation

2 Each lesson contains 4 sections:  Lesson Presentation  Tutor  Independent Practice (“IP” for short)  Quiz  Pass  continue to next lesson  Fail  remediation by ICL and your teacher Throughout the lesson flow you will also work on:  Unit Diagnostic Reviews  Unit Tests

3  Note-taking is a must in this section, worth 15% or more of your 9 weeks grade  Headphones must be worn  Watch and listen to each video and write down important information  Examples, definitions, lists of steps, etc.  Video playback features  Pause and Replay buttons, volume control  Tools button  Access to a calculator, glossary, and problem sets for the Independent Practice section  No notes = no help = no advancement

4  1 to 4 questions usually  Take your time on each question  Show your work in your notebook  Do NOT only write the answers!  A solution video is available to watch after each question to help you understand  Alert teacher and ask questions if you do not understand a problem or its solution  The number of correct Tutor answers determines the number of IP problems assigned in the next section

5  You will be assigned between 5 and 15 questions, based on your Tutor results  These problems are to be completed off-line in your notebook  Problems accessed by clicking the TOOLS button, then selecting ‘Supplemental Resource Text’  Write down the questions and solutions in your notebook  Use your Lesson Presentation notes and Tutor examples to help complete this assignment  Alert teacher and ask questions if you do not understand a problem

6  Timed section (5 minutes or less)  Enter all 5 to 15 answers before clicking “Finish Entry”  Use the ‘Back’ button to review answers first!  Review solutions section carefully and make corrections to your own work  Must pass IP before moving onto quiz  Redo the Tutor if score is below 60  IPs are worth 15% of your 9 weeks grade

7  10 questions each time  Open note section - use your notes and Tutor/IP examples to help complete the problems  Show what YOU know - your teacher will NOT answer questions for you during this section  You must show your work and the solutions to the problems incorrectly answered in your notebook  Answer all 10 questions before clicking ‘FINISH QUIZ’  Use the ‘Back’ arrow button to review answers first!  Quizzes are worth 30% of your 9 weeks grade

8  Covers 5 to 10 previous lessons – think of these as chapter reviews  20 – 25 questions in length – ask your teacher if you have enough time to complete this section  Open note section – use all the information you recorded in your notebook while you work  Answer all questions before clicking ‘Finish’  Use ‘Back’ arrow button to review answers first!  On the Question Summary page, click the red X’s to view a video of the problem’s solution  Copy the correct solutions in your notebook

9  Covers the same number of lessons as the previous Diagnostic Review  You may study your notes before taking the Unit Test  You will be required to ‘Consult with teacher’ before taking the Unit Test (on-screen message)  You will submit your notebook for grading at this time  Record all work for each problem  Show what YOU know – your teacher will not answer questions for you during a Test  Unit Tests are worth 30% of your 9 weeks grade
