WELCOME!

MUSICAL PREPARATION: ALLELUIA

THE REDISCOVERY OF GOD’S GLORY IN PRAISE CALL TO WORSHIP: Revelation 1:17-18 Leader:When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”

CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY (#277) "Christ the Lord is ris’n today," Alleluia! Sons of men and angels say; Alleluia! Raise your joys and triumphs high; Alleluia! Sing ye heav'ns, and earth, reply: Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King; Alleluia! Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia! Once he died, our souls to save; Alleluia! Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia! Foll’wing our exalted Head; Alleluia! Made like him, like him we rise: Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies. Alleluia!

Hail, the Lord of earth and heav'n! Alleluia! Praise to thee by both be giv'n; Alleluia! Thee we greet triumphant now; Alleluia! Hail, the Resurrection, thou! Alleluia!

EASTER PROCLAMATION Leader: He is risen! People: He is risen, indeed!

PRAYER OF PRAISE Participants are invited to raise their voices in words of praise to God.

WORSHIP CHRIST, THE RISEN KING! (#286) Rise O Church and lift your voices. Christ has conquered death and hell. Sing as all the earth rejoices; Resurrection anthems swell. Come and worship, come and worship, Worship Christ the Risen King.

See the tomb where death had laid Him; Empty now its mouth declares. Death and I could not contain Him; For the throne of life He shares. Come and worship, come and worship, Worship Christ the Risen King

Doubt may lift its head to murmur; Scoffers mock and sinners jeer. But the truth proclaims a wonder, Thoughtful hearts receive with cheer. He is risen, He is risen, Now receive the Risen King.

We acclaim Your life O Jesus; Now we sing Your victory. Sin or hell may seek to seize us, But Your conquest keeps us free. Stand in triumph, stand in triumph, Worship Christ the Risen King.

KING OF THE NATIONS Come, let us worship Jesus, King of nations, Lord of all, Magnificent and glorious, just and merciful Jesus, King of the nations. Jesus, Lord of all. Jesus, King of the nations. Lord of all.

Lavish our heart’s affection, Deepest love and highest praise. Voice, race and language blending, All the world amazed. Jesus, King of the nations. Jesus, Lord of all. Jesus, King of the nations. Lord of all.

Come, Lord, and fill your temple, Glorify your dwelling place; Till nations see your splendor And seek your face. Jesus, King of the nations. Jesus, Lord of all. Jesus, King of the nations. Lord of all. Lord of all.

Fear God and give him glory For his hour of judgment comes. Creator, Lord Almighty, worship him alone. Jesus, King of the nations. Jesus, Lord of all. Jesus, King of the nations. Worship Him alone. CCLI Song # 1115388 Graham Kendrick © 1992 Make Way Music (Admin. by Music Services, Inc.)

CHRIST’S PRESENCE AS PROPHET IN THE LIVING WORD (please see bulletin)

Romans 6:1-23 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

ALLELUIA Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia (Repeat)

THE REDISCOVERY OF GOD’S GRACE IN CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN Leader:Father in heaven, we need your forgiveness. We have tried to heal ourselves and daily reap the misery of our futile attempts.

People:Instead of trusting in the death of Jesus Christ, we have tried to work off our guilt by storing up good deeds that outweigh our sins. When this fails, we turn to denial, blame and distraction. Instead of trusting in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we try to change our hearts through sheer willpower. We have become arrogant, anxious, depressed, and ashamed. Forgive us for following our father Adam in trying to cover our own sin. Forgive us for neglecting your grace. Forgive us and heal us, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

ABSOLUTION Leader:"And Peter said to them, “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself.” (Acts 2:38-39)

Arise my soul, arise shake off your guilty fears. The bleeding sacrifice on my behalf appears. Before the throne my surety stands. Before the throne my surety stands, My name is written on his hands. ARISE, MY SOUL, ARISE

Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul arise. Shake off your guilty fears and rise.

He ever lives above for me to intercede. His all redeeming love His precious blood to plead. His blood atoned for every race. His blood atoned for every race, And sprinkles now the throne of grace.

Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul arise. Shake off your guilty fears and rise.

Five bleeding wounds he bears, Received on Calvary. They pour effectual prayers They strongly plead for me. Forgive him, O forgive they cry. Forgive him, O forgive they cry, Don’t let that ransomed sinner die!

Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul arise. Shake off your guilty fears and rise.

My God is reconciled his pard’ning voice I hear. He owns me for his child I can no longer fear. With confidence I now draw nigh. With confidence I now draw nigh, And “Father, Abba, Father!” cry.

Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul arise. Shake off your guilty fears and rise. CCLI Song # 2570138 Copyright ©1996 Kevin Twit Music (ASCAP).Used by permission. All rights reserved.

JESUS, LOVER OF MY SOUL Jesus, lover of my soul, Let me to thy bosom fly, While the nearer waters roll, While the tempest still is high: Hide me, O my Savior, hide, ‘Till the storm is past Safe into the haven guide, Receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none, Hangs my helpless soul on thee; Leave, ah! leave me not alone, Still support and comfort me! All my trust on thee is stayed, Help from thee I bring; Cover my defenseless head In the shadow of thy wing.

Thou, O Christ, art all I want; More than all in thee I find; Raise the fallen, cheer the faint, Heal the sick, and lead the blind. Just and holy is thy name; I am all unrighteousness; False and full of sin I am, Thou full of truth and grace.

Plenteous grace with thee is found, Grace to cover all my sin; Let the healing streams abound; Make and keep me pure within: Thou of life the fountain art, Let me take of thee; Spring thou up within my heart, to all eternity.
