2 Places of interest in Great Britain Great Britain is the main English- speaking country in the world. It consists of England, Scotland and Wales. There are many interesting sights in each of these countries and their capitals: London, Edinburgh and Cardiff. Millions of people visit Britain every year to learn more about its places of interest.

3 Stonehenge Stonehenge is one of the most known attractions in England, being at the same time one of the earliest prehistoric European monuments. It was built on the Salisbury plain in 3000 BC and till now there only guesses, who and how created Stonehenge

4 Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey is a place where Queens and Kings are married and crowned, famous English personalities are commemorated or buried. For English people Westminster Abbey is a great symbol of their country and it is really worth visiting. The memorials and the tombs comprise the most significant collection of monumental sculpture in the UK.

5 Tintagel Castle Visiting England you can’t see the Tintagel Castle, but only its ruins. This castle was built around 1240 year by Earl Richard of Cornwall. Now its ruins overlook the ocean sitting atop a high slate cliff. At the foot of the castle a beach lies, giving entrance to Merlin’s Cave underneath the rock wall. Tintagel Castle and its ruins are surrounded by the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

6 Hadrian’s Wall Hadrian’s Wall building began in 120 AD. It reaches from the sea to the sea for 73 miles (almost 117 kilometers) across the northern England. The wall was commissioned as a boundary of the Roman Empire by Emperor Hadrian. At five-mile intervals across the entire expanse forts were built. Owner of the wall now is National Trust Hadrian’s Wall is in still good condition.

7 Bath Spa Bath is a city named after the Roman baths built over hot natural springs in the I century AD. Many baths are in ruins still the visitors can acquire an appreciation for engineering of Romans. The city of Bath is famous for its wonderful Gothic and Roman architecture; its streets are full of talented artists and talented performers. Jane Austen Center, Bath Abbey, Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge are accessible for visiting

8 Warwick Castle Warwick Castle is a monument of British history that is beautifully preserved. It is one of the most visited sights of England. The construction of the castle gradually changed from wood to stone throughout time. If you visit this castle, you can see ramparts and towers, the great hall, dungeons, Caesar’s Tower, state rooms, displays of armor and the gatehouse.

9 Linkolnsky cathedral Linkolnsky cathedral - the English Gothic cathedral, the third largest temple of medieval England. To a collapse in 1549 of the central spike the 160- meter cathedral was the highest building in the world.

10 Temple Templ The most ancient temple of order of knights templars where knights carried out the secret ceremonies of dedication.

11 Albert – the Hall Albert – the Hall. The huge building which is located opposite to the Hyde park. Round construction with a glass dome.

12 Cape Bichi-Hed The cape Bichi-Hed - a fine natural monument to the southern England, the huge cretaceous rock rising over the sea by height in hundred sixty two meters. The name of the cape has no relation to the beach, this distorted Old French beau chef that can be translated as "the beautiful cape".

13 White rocks of Dover From time immemorial the chain of snow-white rocks stretched along all southern coast of England was the first that was seen by the seamen who were swimming up to coast of Britain from the continent. These are the well-known white rocks of Dover.

14 Glastonbury Glastonbury is one of the most ancient cities in England, is located near Saint Mikhail's hill. The remains of the settlements existing even before arrival of Romans have been found in the neighborhood of the city. In the Middle Ages the city had good welfare thanks to Glastonberiysky abbey.
