1 Science project how to inflate up a balloon with liquid
Joceylin pulido

2 How did this inflate without a person blowing into it?

3 Question! I wanted to find out which acidic liquids would blow up the balloon the most. Also I wanted to find out how acid and base make a chemical reaction.

4 materials 2oz . Of Lemon juice Vinegar Orange juice Apple juice
12-20 balloons 4 empty bottles(same size) 1oz .of Water(30 ml.) I teaspoon of baking soda (5ml.) Ruler to measure the circumference of the balloon

5 Method get materials Pour in water in bottles
Pour in baking soda in bottles Pour the liquid (orange juice, lemon juice, vinegar, apple juice) Put the balloon on the bottle Shake the bottle Wait till the balloon inflates up Measured the circumference

6 hypothesis I hypothesize that the lemon juice is going to blow up the balloon the most because It has more acid and that would make a bubbly liquid and start inflating. The bubbly liquid helps the balloon inflate because it makes more air for it to blow up and has more pressure.

7 observation My data showed that the orange juice doesn’t have much acid so the circumference of the balloon, of the balloon it came out to 5 inches on average. The lemon juice and the vinegar both had a lot of acid, so those circumferences averaged out to 9 inches. The apple juice didn’t have as much acid so it didn’t blow up at all. When you mix an acid and a base, you get a chemical reaction which makes carbon dioxide

11 Conclusion My hypothesis was partially correct because both the lemon juice and the vinegar blow up the balloons the most.

12 My study My study is important because we can understand what happens antacids like when we take, the antacid neutralizes Alka-Seltzer to make our stomachs feel better because you drank something with a lot of acid. You need to be aware of how different chemicals react when mixed so that we don’t mix them and explode something.
