6 Strengths Challenges Student responsibility Learning styles – students play to their own strengths Students shape own deadlines Students make connections to majors and other interests Projects – students, their classmates, and I all learn something that I couldn’t have put into the course Opportunity to work w/ students according to their interests (e.g., those who choose to write research papers want to write papers) Erratic grading load Doesn’t fit neatly into Gradebook function on my.wartburg Takes more time to keep records Takes more time to meet with students Some students take reading and daily discussion less seriously since they are not being held accountable through reading quizzes and frequent tests – but some students have always come to class un- or under-prepared
