2. cgMDR - Overview Actually a suite of products – Registry/Repository (eXist XML DB, with HTML interface) – Query Service Manager (Java, Axis servlet) – Excel Addin (.NET/Microsoft Office SDK) – EA Addin (.NET/EA SDK) (used in OSU openMDR)

Driven by NMDP Requirements NMDP Curation Team needed an easier way to standardize and harmonized data elements collected on forms for Bone Marrow Donor Program Forms contain question and answers. – Existing process involved a number of tools in order to annotate/align existing form with caDSR CDE’s. Team was using Excel as a platform to record existing forms and associated caDSR metadata annotations.

5. cgMDR NMDP Enhancements Overview Creation of the Excel Template Expansion and improvement of the Excel Addin – Handling of ISO 11179 components (Object Class, Property, Representation Term) Creation of Bulk Loader Uses caDSR 4.0, LexEVS 5.1

NMDP Bulk Load Template Excel Table representing a Form – Contains additional fields allowing semantic annotation of individual questions and answer sets to create Object Class, Property, DEC, VD and CDE components). Designed to be filled in using the cgMDR Excel Addin. Contains basic validation routines to reduce round trips for adding content into caDSR.

7. cgMDR Addins – Excel Addin Takes Selected Result and inserts it into Excel sheet – Behavior differentiated based on button and result type  Annotate vs Restrict For both, concept or caDSR items information inserted into separate worksheets for review Annotate inserts data into the spreadsheet or UML model Restrict places validation rules on the cells in the spreadsheet – Uses 11179 CDE information to constrain data entry

8. cgMDR Query Service Control Panel Query Service Control Panel – Query and Response handling and display. – Underlying class extended by both Excel and EA addin. Three parts – Control – Service Picker, Query Term Entry – Result List Display – Details Display – Displays information on item selected in Result List

9. Bulk Loader Loads 11179 schema elements (DE, DEC, OC, Concepts, etc) into the caDSR from a XML file that’s conformant to the caDSR schema. – Transforms Excel file into an XML file conformant to caDSR 11179 metadata. Based on UML Loader – Uses enhanced UML Loader persistence layer for data storage

10. Demo Using Excel Addin and QSM, search for and insert CDEs into a blank worksheet to create a spreadsheet for data collection
