2 Bio of Presenter Coby Liddell has worked in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector for over 11 years as a Qld Schools Head of Department, Trainer/Assessor, RTO Manager and Consultant. She has worked for a range of organisations in the areas of RTO compliance, including conducting internal audits and reviews, developing training and assessment materials, conducting Certificate IV in Training and Assessment workshops and Qld Schools consulting. Coby holds qualifications in Master of Training and Development, Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is currently employed by Velg Training as a Member Resource Developer and Consultant.

5 Systematic validation SRTO 1.9-1.11 The quality review of the assessment process. Validation involves checking that the assessment tool/s produce/s valid, reliable, sufficient, current and authentic evidence to enable reasonable judgements to be made as to whether the requirements of the training package or VET accredited courses are met. It includes reviewing a statistically valid sample of the assessments and making recommendations for future improvements to the assessment tool, process and/or outcomes and acting upon such recommendations. 9 Five Year Validation Plan Validation plan: when assessment validation will occur; which training products will be the focus of the validation; who will lead and participate in validation activities; and how the outcomes of these activities will be documented and acted upon.

11 Systematic validation SRTO 1.9-1.11 Statistically valid: Means for the purposes of these Standards, a random sample of appropriate size is selected to enable confidence that the result is sufficiently accurate to be accepted as representative of the total population of assessments being validated

13 Systematic validation A team approach may be used to achieve the above combination Appropriately qualified persons to conduct the review who are not involved in the particular instance of delivery and assessment a) Vocational competencies and current industry skills relevant to the assessment being validated b) Current knowledge and skills in vocational teaching and learning c) TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment OR TAESS00001 Assessor Skill Set.
