3 Some basic facts of CTU THE - QS World University Rankings 2010 http://www.topuniversities.com/ According to the latest ranking in the Times Higher Education Supplement, the Czech Technical University in Prague appears among 401-450 top universities The ranking of technical universities gives the 121st place to the Czech Technical University in Prague (scoring 21.0 points, like École des Ponts, ParisTech, and Tokyo University of Science ) École des Ponts, ParisTech Tokyo University of Science The ranking of natural sciences gives the 246th place to the Czech Technical University in Prague (scoring 15.0 points, like University of Illinois, Chicago, and Universität Köln )University of Illinois, Chicago Universität Köln

4 Study programmes and profiles Transportation Systems and Technology Management and Economics of Transportation and Telecommunications Engineering Informatics in Transportation and Communications Air Traffic Control and Management Electromobility Safety nad Security Engineering Intelligent Transport Systems (multiple degree program together with University of Applied Sciences Wien and Linkoping University) Transportation and Logistic Systems (transatlantic dual degree program with University of Texas at El Paso and University of Zilina) In Faculty of Transportation Sciences, you can study Master degree in the following profiles:

5 ITS projects (examples) ITS architecture of the Czech Republic –solved within the project „ITS in transport-telecommunication conditions of the Czech Republic" supported by Ministry of Transport Information system for monitoring and control of dangerous goods –one of the pilot applications prepared within project „Involvement of the Czech Republic into Galileo Project“ supported by Ministry of Transport

6 ITS projects (examples) e-call Service –pilot application supported by Ministry of Transport and EU that developed, implemented and tested environment for the eCall service as an extension of real E112 system Economical, ecological and safety electronic toll collection –pilot applications of the connection between OBU and in-vehicle data (CAN) that can yield to providing the new telematics services: (i) In-vehicle weight in motion, (ii) on-line assessment of vehicle emission, (iii) on-line measurement of externalities, (iv) safety assessment of vehicle driving, (v) ecological assessment of vehicle driving, etc. OBU CAN 1,2

7 ITS projects (examples) Traffic data collection and distribution –application supported by Skoda-Auto and Ministry of Transport –traffic data localization (localization tables for CR), floating car data (FCD) application Interactive vehicle simulation and HMI –R&D area supported by Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Education, Skoda and VW –(i) focused on operator-machine interaction, (ii) development of classifiers, (iii) driving aid devices –development of interactive simulators (Driving Simulation Research Group) –HMI research – ergonomics, operation safety, psychophysiological measures, advanced analyses of measured time series data

8 ITS projects (examples) Universal On-Board Unit –application supported by Ministry of Trade and Industry –unified SW modules available for all OBU processes –using unified functions, databases and conditions (development kit)) Laboratory of electronic identification (e- Ident) in transport and logistics –project was supported by Ministry of Trade and Industry –testing of ITS applications that use electronic identification systems like (i) electronic toll collection, (ii) e-call, (iii) car-to-car communication, (iv) logistical systems, etc. n 1 n 1 MANAGEMENTMANAGEMENT functions database s condition s middleware CORBA,J2EE,J2SE, J2ME,.net, atd. kernel SW drivers, interfaces, operating system 2011 ITS certification laboratory starts to work (first contract from Ministry of Transport)

9 EU Clusters and Networks (examples) –ETNITE (European Network on ITS Training and Education) - ITS EduNet –CASTLE (Clusters in Aerospace and Satellite Navigation Technologies linked to Entrepreneurial Innovation) –GAST (Green and Safe Road Transport - pilot project for European Institutes of Technology)
