4. The Technology: Web Services All items that form part of the Multi-Bin System are held in a database on a ‘Web Services’ interoperable machine-to-machine interaction network. Accuracy Guaranteed The ‘Web Service’ information contains Bar code identification, Stock Code, Bin Fill Quantity and Contract Prices. Barcode ‘HID’ Barcoded information is used to uniquely and accurately identify products by means of a HID (Human interface Device) – currently either a 1D Linear or 2D Class 2 Laser Scanner. GSM Scanner Every time the Scanner is used it communicates with the ‘Web Services’ network and synchronises the on-board database to ensure any modifications to the data are included. The collected data from the scanner is transmitted via the mobile phone network (GSM - Global System for Mobile Communications) using a File Transfer Protocol (FTP). EDI/Direct Import The collected information is again checked against the information held on the ‘Web Services’ server and formatted into an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) template. The template file is then returned to a pre-set e-mail address in the form of a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. Automatic Picking List The CSV file is uploaded onto our computer system which automatically produces a picking note to replenish goods on the next cycle.
