2 1. Background Master Plan of the Spanish Cooperation By the end of June 2006 the ellaboration process was innitiated. Participative process ( ): The DNGOs DE Group. The International Commission DE Group(Local and Autonomous Administration). AECID. Ministry of Education. Informal actors consultation and DNGO Congress on DE organized by HEGOA. Consultation and draft delivery to female experts. Taller conjunto de actores en junio 07. APROBACION JULIO 2007.

3 DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION: Development Education is the permanent educational process (formal, informal and non-formal) aimed at promoting a global citizenship through knowledge, attitudes and values capable of creating a culture of solidarity committed to the fight against poverty and exclusion, as well as the promotion of sustainable and human development.

5 1. ED dimensions Sensibilización Alertar sobre situaciones de injusticia, sobre las causas de la pobreza y difundir propuestas. Investigación Analizar en profundidad las cuestiones relacionadas con el desarrollo. Fundamentar propuestas. Educación = Formación Comprender los problemas, concienciar y orientar la acción hacia un cambio a nivel local y global. Presión Política / Movilización Social Influir en las decisiones políticas que se adoptan en el Norte y que afectan al Sur. Proponer alternativas políticas en materia de desarrollo. Movilizar a la sociedad en la defensa de derechos humanos y la particípación política.

12 General Objetive: To promote a global citizenship committed to the fight against poverty and exclusion, as well as the promotion of sustainable and human development through educational processes that transmit knowledge and promote the creative attitudes and values of a culture based on solidarity. Development Education: An educational process that looks out for the promotion of a global citizenship through knowledge, attitudes and values able to generate a culture of solidarity engaged with the fight against poverty and social exclusion as well as with the promotion of a human sustainable development. Global (interdisciplinary, global and local, links past-present- future) and integral (knowledge, values and attitudes)
