2  Listening is an act of communication  Hearing is the way of perceiving sound.  Sympathetic listening is to perceive other people  Critical listening is the ability to differentiate facts from opinion.  Creative listening means listening with an open mind to new ideas.  Productivity is the input and output of money in a business KEY TERMS

3  Work rules are the do’s and don’ts at work  Absenteeism is the number of absences from work  Self-esteem is a self-respect and recognition from others.  Self-actualization is to grow and to be creative.  Hygiene factors are job elements that dissatisfy when absent but do not add to satisfaction when present.  Motivators are job elements that increase job satisfaction. 11  Two factors are Hygiene and Motivators  Hygiene is dissatisfy when absent and satisfaction when present  Motivators increase job satisfaction HERZBERG’S TWO-FACTOR THEORY

12  Increased productivity- More work is being done RESULTS OF JOB SATISFACTION

13  To win the praise from your boss  Personal pride will be reached SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF- ACTUALIZATION

14  Employers use rewards to employees  Raises ones self esteem  Being rewarded motivates for the future REWARDS AND OPPORTUNITIES

15  Success with a job is communication  With communication, things can get done OVERVIEW
