4 History ChiMat established in February 2009 by the Department of Health in collaboration with the Department for Education in support of their joint strategy ‘Healthy Lives, Brighter Futures’. Became a Health Intelligence Network in 2013 following a recommendation from the Chief Medical Officer and the independent Children and Young People’s Health Outcomes Forum. 4 National Child and Maternal Health Intelligence Network (ChiMat)

5 5 Common aims Turn data into meaningful health intelligence to inform the planning and delivery of high quality, cost-effective services Work with partners and stakeholders to agree priorities, increase efficiency, drive innovation, and deliver effectively Ensure intelligence understood and used to improve the health and wellbeing of the population and reduce inequalities National Child and Maternal Health Intelligence Network (ChiMat)
