Roger Track how the intensity of Roger’s villainous nature increases as the story progresses.

Lord of the Flies Timeline In your groups create a timeline of the major plot points of your assigned chapters. Include any important character changes and the introduction or development of important symbols. Chapters 1-4Chapters 5-8 Chapters 9-12

Pick up the LotF Shaping Sheet and a blank piece of paper. Fold your paper so that it has 12 squares.

Notes on the Shaping Sheet The thesis statement must include: Author’s name Title Theme 2 concepts that develop theme *NOTE: These are NOT literary devices (you will use literary devices to explain the ideas)

What do I mean by this? Ex: Theme: Loss of identity Ideas: Increased savage behavior, loss of focus on the rescue fire Throughout Lord of the Flies, William Golding demonstrates the consequences of the loss of identity as the boys savage behavior increases and their focus on the rescue fire decreases.

What might I then discuss?  Increased savage behavior - symbolism of the painted faces - figurative language used during the brutal pig hunt - building of suspense during the hunt for Ralph  Decreased focus on fire - symbolism of the fire at its initial conception - syntax to demonstrated when even Ralph starts forgetting the importance of fire - irony of the rescue fire – shows loss of identity because the fire was made smoke out Ralph NOT to be rescued

Test Review Storyboard Each square needs to cover a chapter from the book. Front side: Needs to have a drawing to represent a significant moment from the chapter. You can use stick figures, but your drawing needs to be neat. Back side: Explain how the scene you depicted was important to plot development and theme.
