2 5/17/2012Medina2 Factoring by Grouping Steps: 1.Factor out the GCF other than 1. 2.Set up Diamond Problem 3.Set up polynomials as 4 terms 4. Split polynomial in half and factor out GCF of each group. 5. Common binomial is one factor and leftovers is other factor 6. Write final answer as a product of original GCF & binomial factors *If the expression can’t be factored at all, then it’s Prime. 7. Check work by multiplying back. * Note : if you factored out a GCF it’s not prime.
