3 Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Short-Term Extension until July 15, 2016 Long-term FAA Reauthorization Bill: –House Federally chartered, not-for-profit corporation run the air traffic control system Outside federal appropriations process, governed by a Board of Directors, with authority to collect charges and fees from air traffic users. –Senate—(Likely on the floor in April) FAA and related programs authorized through the end of fiscal year 2017 No air traffic control restructuring. 3

11 Federal Aviation Administration 11 All-encompassing, multi-decade, multi-billion dollar makeover of the world’s largest and most complex air traffic control system. Benefits: Once all currently planned programs are in place, FAA expects NextGen to deliver $134 billion in direct airline, industry and societal benefits through 2030. For NextGen capabilities already in use, FAA has quantified $1.6 billion in benefits to airlines and the traveling public.
