The Miao people compare themselves to “phoenix”, taking the bird as their totem. 2. At the local golden pheasant dance, locally called Jinjiwu, young boys will play lusheng for an all-female group of dancers with golden pheasants gestures in a circle moving in lines with different patterns. 3. The dancers' costumes, adorned with silver headwear, necklaces, bangles, and anklets become musical instruments, emitting a metallic melody in sync with the rhythm of their footsteps. 13. 3. The Miao people treated the golden pheasant as their patron. To show their gratitude, at the lusheng dance they mimicked the golden pheasant’s movements and postures,dressed themselves after the golden pheasant, silver ornaments on their heads in the shape of the pheasants, and knitting girdles that resembled the feathers of the golden pheasant. 4. Generation by generation, the Jinji dance is performed in daily life, and gradually into a living art form with its own integrated and unique style.

14. 5.In 105 A.D., Cai Lun invented paper-making technology and produced the world’s first batch of paper using plant fibers. Since then, people no longer have to write on parchment or bamboo slips. 6. In a paper-making workshop the entire process makes us really focus on what and how paper is made, altogether taking 14 steps to finish making a piece of paper, all manual. 7.At Shiqiao Miao Village some villagers expanded the product line from traditional white paper to colorful paper with customized designs. The dizzying color, natural texture, original design, everything about the paper calls for a shopping spree.
