Suggested Steps for Sherri I would make sure that she was involved and understood that we were doing everything possible to make sure that she succeeded and understood what was going on and how certain items would be put in place for her to advance to the next level of her learning. I would explain to her that there are tools and devices that can be used at home and school that will help her succeed in her educational journey and excel to new heights with her improved writing skills. I would make sure that she knew that these tools helped students accelerate towards the actual physical task of writing, while others facilitated proper spelling, punctuation, grammar, word usage, and organization.

WritePad -allows you to compose a document with your own handwriting—using shorthand that works best for you. Spell Check -this basic spell-check app doesn’t require WiFi to function for you or your child. TapTyping -If typing on a mobile device is difficult for you or your child, TapTyping can help through, among other features, its unique heat map that shows where the majority of errors are occurring.

Helpful Assistive Technology Devices Although there are many devices that can be used to assist Sherri in our learning experiences towards improving her skills in writing, this device seemed to fit in perfect. This device is called a Portable Word Processor. A portable word processor is a lightweight device that is easy to transport (e.g., from classroom to home). It can be helpful to kids who may have trouble writing by hand and prefer to use a keyboard. Word processing allows the user to edit and correct his written work more efficiently than doing so by hand.

This device can also be connected with other devices so that group activities can be completed. Assignments can be saved on these devices so that incomplete work can be completed at home or school. Applications that are included can be used in both environments by the students daily.

They are simple to use. Simple – Press On and write. No waiting all files automatically saved. Focused – No games, No internet, No distractions.
