13 SUCCESSES S TUDENT A SSISTANCE P R GRAM Success Story #1: Client sought services due to anxiety and depression that he reported began when his father was murdered. Client reported his functioning was severely impacted as he had difficulty sleeping and some nights he would be up all night. Client was new in the country, had no insurance, was unsure about how to maneuver through the system, no reliable mode of transportation and had very little family support. Client completed 4 therapy sessions, was linked with doctor’s services, was compliant with medication and his daily functioning has significantly improved as he now boasts a 4.0 GPA and involvement in various clubs on campus. Client reported that through counseling and psychiatric services he has improved functioning and did not allow his illness, or the many hurdles he had to climb over, define or deter him.
