1 United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties 2014 Campaign Kickoff Campaign Promise: “Raised Here. Stays Here.”

2 What does the United Way do and who do we serve? Funding agency for other nonprofit organizations – we identify community needs and then provide services and/or grants to other agencies who in turn provide direct services to address those needs 7 Communities: Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Whitewater, Palmyra, Helenville, Lake Mills, and Sullivan Serve a total population of 43,263 Our funded agencies served a total of 17,469 people in our communities in 2013 11,185 people through health services 4,260 people through educational services 2,204 people through financial independence services

3 How did we utilize the 2013 Campaign donations? $215,800 allocated to partner agencies 30 current partner agencies $12,744 allocated to other designated agencies 22 designated agencies (not partners) $10,000 allocated to pillar grants Six projects funded $238,544 TOTAL allocated to organizations/projects focused on education, health, and financial independence services in our communities

4 What do our agencies provide? HEALTH SERVICES Dental and medical care for low income and uninsured individuals Affordable and accessible mental health services Safe options and access to resources for abuse victims EDUCATION SERVICES Role models and mentors for young students Training support for individuals with barriers to entry in the workforce Literacy instructions and ESL classes for community members FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE SERVICES Temporary housing and case management Training in financial self-sufficiency Funding for students to participate in extra-curricular and community activities

5 Success stories of our agencies BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF FORT ATKINSON Started their first-ever summer program in 2013 Expanded to Barrie School in 2014 Increased to 309 registered club members Provided 21,160 free snacks last school year Introducing a “Junior Staff Program” with middle school students

6 Success stories continued… STUDIO 84, INC. Provided the most scholarships to students this past year Jaime (student with cognitive disabilities) has sold two of his paintings Kelly (student who is legally blind) is creating a children’s book of animal paintings for each letter of the alphabet 6

7 Success stories continued… Rock River Free Clinic: 3,479 patient visits in 2013 (up 244 from 2012) Girl Scouts of Badgerland Council: 3 of their 10 top cookie sellers in 2013 were from Fort Atkinson, Whitewater, and Lake Mills Town & Country - Farm to School: Chef in Residence program at Purdy Elementary (with the owner of Black Sheep) PADA: introduced a program with Head Start students this spring

8 What are Pillar Grants? New funding opportunity introduced in 2014 Available to community members, organizations, etc. Focused on community enhancement projects Total of $10,000 was distributed to six projects Blackhawk Running Club Whitewater Fit Kid Shuffle Junior Women’s Cab program Fort Healthcare Railyard project Jefferson West Elementary garden Jefferson County Connections program

Donations stay within the communities where we live and work and are allocated in order to have the greatest impact You choose HOW you want to give: Each donor can choose how they would like to contribute (cash, check, payroll deduction, credit card) You choose WHO you want to give to: Each donor can choose where they want their money allocated
