2 What kinds of Title I schools are there? If a school receives Title I funds, that school is either Targeted Assistance and Schoolwide

3 What schools must be targeted assistance A new school A school with less than 40% of its students qualifying for free/reduced lunch A school that has chosen to remain targeted assistance

4 How can a school become a Schoolwide Title 1? Over 40% of your students qualify for free/reduced lunch A Schoolwide Plan has been developed with stakeholders over the course of a year All your teachers must be highly qualified

5 How can you use Title I funds? Additional educational programming (on top of core educational program) that helps students achieve grade level proficiency

6 The School Improvement Plan A team process with all stakeholders (including parents!) Comprehensive needs assessment Research-based strategies Detailed activities

7 What is Title II-A? Effective Teachers and Leaders

8 How can you use Title II-A funds? Number 1 - To ensure all your teachers and paraprofessionals are highly qualified Number 2 - Once all your teachers are HQ, then you can use the funds for professional development Number 3 – Class size reduction

9 What is Title III? English language instruction for limited English proficient students that help them meet state standards

10 How can I use my Title III funds? Supplemental materials/supplies for ELL, including workbooks, textbooks, dictionaries, software, computers, etc. Professional development activities for teachers Costs associated with professional development activities

11 What is IDEA? Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

12 How can you use your IDEA funds? Salaries/benefits for special education teachers Salaries/benefits for special education teachers Specialized transportation Specialized transportation Summer school tuition Summer school tuition Instructional materials/supplies for special education students Instructional materials/supplies for special education students Speech/language/psychological/audiologic al services Speech/language/psychological/audiologic al services Any needs or services as specified in an IEP Any needs or services as specified in an IEP
