4 Department of Natural Sciences  Proposal document(s) received by SAAC on March 23, 2016 –Reviewed on April 7, 2016 –Committee voted on April 7, 2016 and approved all requested changes  Overview of Request –Changes to the joint UMCP, UMBC and UMES: Marine & Estuarine Environmental Science Program. The proposal request restructuring Six areas of specialization: Environmental Science, Ecology, Fisheries, Environmental Chemistry, Oceanography, and Environmental Molecular Biology & Technology. Four foundational areas: Environmental & Society, Earth and Ocean Systems, Ecological Systems, and Environmental Molecular Systems & Technologies. Foundation Course, required for all areas. Implementation Date: Fall 2016. 4

New Concentration Name: Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology Rationale: Department of Technology is preparing for an ABET program accreditation visit in Fall 2018. ABET recognizes program with degree titles that have Electrical/Electronic(s) Engineering Technology in their degree title. MHEC cost to request/process concentration name change: $50.00 6
