 The present tense.  What do you remember?  -ar verbs, -er verbs and –ir verbs  Can you write the endings without peeking at a verb chart?  We will come back to this in a moment… A little review…

 Los mandatos (commands) Informal + irregulares  Los almacenes (stores/businesses)  México  Los mandatos (commands) Formal + irregulares  Mandatos afirmativos formal y mandatos plural + irregulares Looking ahead!

 1. What does “informal” mean?  This is when you are speaking to a friend or a peer. In Spanish we use the “tú” form for this.  2. What does it mean to give a command?  We use this form of speech to give advice and to tell people what you want them to do.  3. Do you see an English cognate in “mandatos”?  What is a “mandate”? Mandatos, commands (informal)

 How to make a command in the affirmative informal (afirmativo informal)…  Let’s start with our “friend”, hablar. A nice and simple –ar verb Bueno…¿Listos?

First, conjugate the verb to the 3 rd person singular form  “Habla” and guess what? That’s it!!…you are there!!  ¡Habla en español!  Now look at Escribir and Abrir…  ¡Escribe en el cuaderno!  ¡Abre la ventana! Hablar

 1. Tell me to read the book.  ¡Lee el libro!  2. Tell me to walk to school.  ¡Camina a la escuela!  4. Tell me to dance.  ¡Baila!  5. Tell me to eat tacos.  ¡Come tacos! Now you try…

 Triste…  Make a note of the following verbs. They are irregular in the affirmative informal command form…  It is VERY important to label these correctly. You will be seeing irregulars for the formal form of commands and “nosotros” form. Mandatos irregulares

InfinitivecommandInfinitivecommand 1. decirdi5. salirsal 2. hacerhaz6. sersé 3. irve7. tenerten 4. ponerpon8. venirven Mandatos afirmativos informales y irregulares

 Object pronouns play a LARGE role in affirmative informal commands (**There is a reason I am being specific, you might want to write that down) attached  Object pronouns and reflexive pronouns follow AND are attached to affirmative informal commands.  Breathe!! It is easier than it sounds… Putting it all together…

 First…What are object pronouns again?  Second…What are reflexive pronouns?  Ready? Before we move forward…

 1. Take the verb “Hablar”  2. Make it 3 rd person singular, Habla  3. Add an object pronoun. I want to say Speak to me! And the result is = ¡Hablame!  You did it!! Hablar

How about escribir…  “Write me!”  ¡ Escríbeme!  “Write her!”  ¡Escríbela!  “Write it!”  ¡Escríbelo!  WHOA!! Are those accent marks added??  We will cover this next week…breathe, you have plenty of new material to worry about today!

 Decir  This verb becomes “di” in it’s irregular form.  Change to: Tell me!  İDime!  Hacer  This verb becomes “haz” in it’s irregular form.  Change to: Do it!  İHazlo! Now let’s do irregulars!

 Ir  Ir becomes “ve”…Now say: You go!  İVete!  Poner  Poner becomes “pon”…Now say: Set the table!  İPon la mesa! OR İPonla! If the table was mentioned in a previous sentence so we can use the pronoun.

 Would you like to try a Spanish song that uses commands?  1 condition though … ¡Tienen que CANTAR! Ok? How are you doing?

Dímelo

 Wait?!? Di – me – lo, I KNOW what that means? YAY!!  Say it to me!  NOTE: IF you can remember the song title, you will always remember the order of your objects and pronouns!!  Di (the verb/action)  Me (the indirect pronoun/who is receiving the action)  Lo (the direct object pronoun) Dímelo

 Do you remember your vocabulary from Chapter 2?  Let’s pull stuff together!  Oh yeah!! İEs posible! More Practice:
