A dark period in United States history

Black people are originary from Africa, they were brought from there during the 17 th,18 th and 19 th centuries. They were transported across the Atlantic in slave ships, forcedly, and sold as slaves. They had to work on sugar plantation and cotton plantation in Carabean and the southern states of North America.

The United States was divided in tow parts over the notion of slavery. The North wanted to abolish slavery but slavery was important to the Southern economy. In South slavery was more common. Unfortunately, black people were forced to work under brutal conditions. They were beated and treated as they were animal or working machines by their white owners who belived that white peoples are superior to black ones.

Punishment was most often used whey the slaves disobeyed or when they perceived infractions. White people also abused their black slaves to have fun and to demonstrate who has the power. 8  This issue of slavery become an urgent problem and this made it harder to resolve. The inability of South to accept that slavery was a problem and the North who intended desperately to help slaves. All this factors contributed to the abolishment of slavery in the United States.

Even through black people in slavery period had to face many problems in the past, today the situation is very different. Black people are now seen as equals to white people, they are not treated bad anymore, children can go at the same schools and universities with white people.

People’s ideas nowadays had changed, they treat black people from the same to same, they are not considered anymore inferior to us, the white ones.

Nowadays United Sates has a black president, Barack Obama. This thing is a good influence for the people who still believe that rascism is a good thing and the fact that Unites States has a black president demonstrates that the idea of slavery is exceeded.
