(6 marks) This is an optional topic in the exam where you have to choose which question you will answer-it is always ‘up against’ Changing settlements in the UK It always has a ‘long’ question which is worth 6 marks (Fdn) and 8 marks (Higher) plus 3 marks for SPAG which is shown as *

7 Tertiary and Quaternary Industries Watch the clip and makes notes about Canary Wharf, London Canary Wharfvideo 100,000 people work here! Most of them earn £100,000 per year!!

8 What jobs are people doing in Canary Wharf? Banks (HSBC, Barclays) Investment companies (J P Morgan)make investments for people so they can make more money for them Bank trade in stocks and shares – when companies are doing well, their share value increases………but when things go wrong and companies don’t make a profit, their share prices fall.

9 Half of all the money in the world (several trillion pounds) goes through London at some stage. London is known as a ‘World City’ as it trades and invests all over the world. Law firms and insurance companies also have their HQ at Canary Wharf, as well as big IT companies which support overseas trading through the internet What jobs are people doing in Canary Wharf?
