Inventor Studio Animate Positional Representations

Positional Representations Notes Start new assembly file and assemble the Track. Place 4 Sub Assemblies of the Train. Make sure all the wheels were constrained prior to assembly. Make sure Train sub assemblies in the main assembly are made Flexible. Suppress the angle constraint used to drive the wheels in previous train activities.

Position1 Expand Representations in the Browser and right click on Position and select New. Expand Position : Position 1 and name the position, 1 to reflect the first train position. Make a total of 8 positions. Double click on position 1 and constrain the train to the track Mate.4, Flush.7, and Flush -2.75. Double click on Master under the Position : 1 and apply an angle constraint to the track face and wheel workplane. (Parameters) This angle constraint is used to rotate the wheels and must be applied to the Master.

Position 1-8

Position 2 Double click on Position 2. Right click on the Flush constraint used for Position 1 (back of train to end face of track) and select Override. Set override distance (33.25) Double click on Master.

Parameters Select Parameters. Scroll down and click on User Parameters and select Add. Click Parameter Name type train1. Click Unit type deg. Click Equation type 0deg. Find the angle constraint previously applied to track face and wheel workplane and name it train1 in the equation column.

Parameters

Inventor Studio Applications pull down and select Inventor Studio. Select Animation Timeline. Select Animation Options on timeline. Set the time for the animation.

Positional Representations Select Animate PR. Set Representation Start To 1 and End to 2. Specify Time Start 0 sec and End 5 sec.

Parameter Favorites Select Parameter Favorites and check the box under Favorites and click OK. Expand Animation Favorites in Browser and right click on parameter train1 and select Animate Parameters.

Parameter Favorites Set the End to 1834 degrees. Circumference = pD (3.14 x 2.25 = 7.065). 36” / 7.065 = 5.095 x 360 deg = 1834 deg Specify Time Start 0 sec and End 5 sec and click OK. Animation Timeline select Go to Start and select Play.

Position 3 Return to the assembly environment. Place the Pivot part. This will allow the train to rotate around the oval track section. Constrain the Pivot and Train2. Insert center of pivot to top inside arc of track. Mate the bottom face of train2 to top face of track.4 offset. Mate side face of train2 to side face of pivot 12.05 offset. Angle top edge of pivot to top edge of track 0 deg. Flush the back face of pivot to back face of train2 2.5 offset. (pivot size is.5 so -.25 from 2.75 to center body in the middle of track). Angle the back face of train2 to back face of pivot. Angle the wheel workplane to top face of track. (Parameters) Double click position 3 to set the train position. Double click Master. Click Parameters and repeat previous process name it train2.

Parameters

Position 4 Double click Position 4. Locate the angle constraint previously applied to edge of track and edge of pivot and right click select override. Set the override to 180 deg. Double click on Master.

Inventor Studio Return to Inventor Studio Select Animate PR. Set Representation Start To 3 and End to 4. Specify Time Start 5 sec and End 10 sec.

Parameter Favorites Select Parameter Favorites and check the box under Favorites and click OK. Expand Animation Favorites in Browser and right click on parameter train2 and select Animate Parameters.

Parameter Favorites Set the End to -2128 degrees Circumference = pD (3.14 x 2.25 = 7.065) Oval Circumference = pD (3.14 x 13.3 =41.763) 41.763 / 7.065 = 5.911 x 360 deg = 2128 deg Specify Time Start 5 sec and End 10 sec and click OK Animation Timeline select Go to Start and select Play

Position 5-6 and 7-8 Complete the other half of the train presentation by following the process previously applied.

Animate Fade To complete the animation Animate Fade will be applied to the four train sub assemblies to make it appear that there is only one train going around the track. Select Animate Fade and click on train assembly 2,3, and 4 in the browser. Animate Action select End set to 0 Time Specify or Instantaneous Start 0 and End 0.

Animate Fade Animate Fade the timing for train1 to disappear and train2 to appear instantaneous to one another during the animation. Select Animate Fade and select Train1 in the browser. Animate Action select End set to 0. Time Instantaneous End 5.

Animate Fade Select Animate Fade and select Train2 in the browser. Animate Action select End set to 100. Time Instantaneous End 5.

Animate Fade Select Animate Fade and select Train2 in the browser. Animate Action select End 0. Time Instantaneous End 10.

Animate Fade Train1 should now disappear at 5sec and Train2 should appear at 5sec and then disappear at 10sec. Complete the animation process. Note: Editing the Fade in the Animation Timeline is tricky, click on the box at the start or end of the fade bar and right click.

Animation and Render Animation Timeline select Record Animation. Lighting Style: Four Color Scene Style: XZ Reflective GP Select Render
