4. Falls – the financial cost Treating hip fractures - c £12,000 per patient x 4,200 = £50.4 million A 15% reduction equates to a cost of c£7.5million a year Medical and social for the first two years following a hip fracture = £13,000, lifetime cost = £64,000 Improving care, delivering quality
