3 1. At which level ? - university/faculty/curriculum? Position of the Advisory Board in the organizational system of Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar

4 1. At which level ? - university/faculty/curriculum? University “Dzemal Bijedic” Mostar is not a big university and our proposal is one advisory body for curricula development at university level. The advisory board has to be flexible for different study fields. The flexibility can be reached with temporary members – the experts.

Clear definition of aims of advisory board Advisory Board for curricula development is aimed at development of institutional mechanisms for systematic improvement and coordination of initiatives and development of programs, with a permanent aim to establish and improve high standards of professional development and curricula modernization and personnel training in all the activity sectors at Dzemal Bijedic University.

Clear definition of aims of advisory board This Advisory Board is also aimed at better connections between Dzemal Bijedic University and industry in Mostar region, and also at external support in curricula development at faculties of Dzemal Bijedic University. The aim is to improve quality of teaching process, attractiveness and competitiveness of Dzemal Bijedic University in Mostar.

Composition of advisory board INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS - Students, teachers, administrative and technical support staff members, as well as the University/Faculty management members are considered to be internal stakeholders of this Advisory Board for curricula development EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS (enterprises, industrials, companies, public institutions, chamber of commerce and trade..) are included in the Advisory Board for curricula development, and by that in supervision of functioning and work of the University

Composition of advisory board An Advisory Board for curricula development at Dzemal Bijedic University has 25 permanent members: University representatives 1 member, Faculty representatives 8 members (1 representative per each study field), Legally appointed student representatives 2 members. Public companies and institutions representatives 2 members (preference should be given to industry representatives who are alumny), Private companies representatives 2 members (preference should be given to industry representatives who are alumny), Chamber of commerce representatives 1 member, Labor market representatives 1 member, Alumni representatives (in cooperation with University Alumni Organization – they will be participating on relevant fields).

9 Criteria for selection Criteria for selection of members of the Advisory Board for curricula development are reliability, success, professional quality and competence in work. University representatives are appointed by the University Council, based on proposals by the deans of higher education institutions. Private companies representatives are appointed by the University Council, based on a proposal by University Management. (Preference should be given to industry representatives who are alumny.)

10 Criteria for selection Public companies and institutions representatives are appointed by the University Council, upon a proposal from a Ministry in charge. (Preference should be given to industry representatives who are alumny.) Student representatives are appointed by the University Council, upon a proposal from Student Union.

11 Member appointing procedure The body is chaired by a President. President is elected by the Council upon a proposal from Rector. Members of the Advisory Board that are only part-time included in its work (temporary members) are appointed by the University Council, based on a proposal from the President of the Advisory Board and the faculties. Mandate of the Advisory Board President is 1 year.

12 4. Working methodology and integration in the university structure (valorisation) The board President invites the meetings once at semester at least. Board for curricula development advises University bodies and faculty bodies about possibilities and directions for curricula development at faculties/University. Advisory board for curricula development is working on identifying ways and methods of the existing curricula at University faculties.

Working methodology and integration in the university structure (valorisation) Advisory board for curricula development gives proposals on opening new departments/programs/faculties, as well as new courses. It promotes joint programs and projects in cooperation with industry in order to improve curricula and quality of the teaching process. Periodically and on a regular basis, at least once a year, it reports about its work to Rector and University Council. This TEMPUS project can only give the proposal to make the Advisory Board to the Rector and University Council.

First meeting agenda Welcome (Rector) The Advisory Board president introduces the members with the Regulations on Work and Organization of the Advisory Body for Curricula Developement at Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar + Adoptions Considering annual action plan for the next academic year.
