27 How Topics are Being Incorporated into the Comp. Plan Update ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS Schools/education Due to the separation of jurisdiction between City and Board of Education, there are no updates for this topic in the Comp. Plan Update.

28 How Topics are Being Incorporated into the Comp. Plan Update ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS Future transit? Added to the Intergovernmental Coordination Goals section: “The City of Alpharetta will continue these relationships to refine plans addressing regional challenges. In addition, the City of Alpharetta is actively pursuing funding options including State, Federal, and local sources. The current effort to enact a Fulton County Transportation Sales Tax (TSPLOST) is another collaborative effort addressing regional transportation challenges. Regional Transit – Regional transit planning has been on the State agenda for many years. Current transit options, however, continue to be insufficient for most citizens and employers. MARTA’s service area limitations and GRTA’s Atlanta focus continue to miss the majority of the area’s travel demand. The City continues to support efforts to develop a regional transit system which includes Cobb, Cherokee, Forsyth, and Gwinnett counties in addition to the existing Fulton and DeKalb system.”
