© 2014 IBM Corporation GUI Updates  The TPC-R GUI Updates were implemented to create smoother transition when using TPC and TPC-R  The goal was to move TPC-R closer to the Unified UI without forcing existing users to learn a new interface and without major changes to the code base  Most pages were unaltered in terms of layout and functionality  Updates include: –Log In Page –Dashboard –Create Session Wizard –Page Containers –Status Icons –Table Color Scheme –Favicons 25

© 2014 IBM Corporation 28 Global Mirror Pause with Consistency feature overview  New DS8000 Pause command to the Global Mirror Master –DS8000 Global Mirror Pause with Consistency command will form the consistency group and then auto suspend the Global Copy relationships –Ensures secondary volumes of Global Copy relationships remain consistent after pause –Not necessary to issue Fast Reverse Restore with the journal volumes to make secondary volumes consistent  Benefits of Global Mirror Pause with Consistency –Faster Flash and Planned Site Switch times –Cascaded GC scenarios  DS8000 Support Levels –R6.3.1 RPQ only –R7.1 Full GA Support

© 2014 IBM Corporation Global Mirror Pause with Consistency Feature Overview – cont.  No new interface changes in TPC-R  Handles new Global Mirror states –New States include: Pausing with Secondary Consistency Paused with Secondary Consistency Paused because Resume Failed –Viewable in TPC-R GUI as Master State property of Global Mirror Info tab on the Session Details Panel –Viewable in TPC-R CLI as Copy State property in the showgmdetails command output  Handles Pause with Consistency errors –Does Fast Reverse Restore if Pause with Consistency fails  TPC-R verifies microcode levels of storage for use 29 TPC-R Internal Support of the new DS8000 Feature only

© 2014 IBM Corporation TPC-R Easy Tier heat map transfer for DS8000 30  Allows the DS8000 Easy Tier Heat Maps to be transferred between DS8000 –Heat Maps are used by the DS8000 to automatically figure out which data should be placed on faster disk –With Metro Mirror relationships it is often helpful for the target storage system to know the heat map of the source, thus allowing for optimal data placement on the target –TPC-R facilitates the transfer of the Heat Maps

© 2014 IBM Corporation WAS Liberty Profile  Dynamic profile of WAS  Enables the WAS server to provide only the features required by the application  Lightweight infrastructure which makes TPC-R easier to install (no requirement to install WAS or WAS OEM 7 on z)  Reduce TPC-R's footprint on the system 31

© 2014 IBM Corporation TPC-R and WAS Liberty Profile on Open Systems  Replaces eWAS TPC-R application will be installed into: C:\Program Files\IBM\TPC\wlp\usr\servers\replicationServer 32

© 2014 IBM Corporation TPC-R and WAS Liberty Profile on z/OS systems - package  No requirement to install WAS or WAS OEM before installing TPC-R –Only one installation (TPC-R) vs two installations (TPC-R and WAS) –TPC-R will install and configure itself with minimal requirements from the user  Smaller footprint on disc –No longer require WAS or WAS OEM install, which reduces the required disc space  Reduced CPU usage  TPC-R package now includes WAS Liberty Profile and JAVA 7 33

© 2014 IBM Corporation TPC-R and WAS Liberty Profile on z/OS systems – DB2 migration  TPC-R will no longer support the DB2 database  Users can migrate data from their DB2 database to the embedded datastore using the db2Migration.sh found in /opt/Tivoli/RM/database  Submitting db2Migration.sh will copy the data in db2 to the embedded datastore. The resulting embedded datastore will be located in /opt/Tivoli/RM/database/csmdb  This is a post installation step and only necessary if a user is trying to migrate from a previous installation of TPC-R with DB2 to TPC-R 5.2. If the previous installation used the embedded datastore, the user can skip this step 34

© 2014 IBM Corporation 35 z/OS IP Communication Feature Overview  Problem Statement –Provide an IP based interface into a z/OS system in order to enable HyperSwap or Hardened Freeze configuration from a remote TPC-R server  Benefits –Enable the ability to manage z/OS HyperSwap or Hardened Freeze from any TPC-R installation. Currently, for HyperSwap support a customer has to purchase the z/OS license and run on a z/OS server. This can take away system resources on z/OS and customers are often charged for the MIPs they use on z/OS versus open platforms. –Enable the ability for a single TPC-R z/OS server to manage multiple z/OS systems from the same installation. Currently, a TPC-R z/OS server can only manage volumes attached to the z/OS system that TPC-R is installed on. This means that when a customer actually has multiple sysplexes, TPC-R has to be installed on each sysplex. With the new feature TPC-R only needs to be installed on a single system but can then manage the rest. –Enable the ability for a TPC-R standby server running on Windows to continue to manage HyperSwap or Hardened Freeze. Today a customer can run a z/OS TPC-R server on the primary site but due to resources on the secondary site they choose to run a TPC-R Distributed server as the standby. If they perform a takeover on the standby server the server goes into a state where it can not manage the HyperSwap configuration on the hw....nor restart HyperSwap or Hardened Freeze in the case of an actual swap. With the new support the standby Distributed server will have full capability to manage HyperSwap or Hardened Freeze.

© 2014 IBM Corporation 36 Avoid Full Copy on Unplanned HyperSwap in MGM Overview  Problem Statement –A planned/unplanned hyperswap in MGM today will cause H1 and H2 to swap the i/o and leave the GM portion of the session running. However, since the actual swap on z/OS is managed by IOS and IOS may not have access to site 3, IOS is unable to establish the force failover bitmap on site 3 that is necessary to allow for a resync on the start h2h1h3 command instead of a full copy. The forced failover must be issued prior to any writes occurring on h2 otherwise not all data may reach h1 when the start h2h1h3 is issued and there could be data loss  Solution –With this feature, TPC-R will enable IOS to issue a suspend to the GM GC pairs between site 2 and site 3 during the HyperSwap process before allowing writes to site 2. This prevents continued updates to site 3 and allows TPC-R to setup the necessary relationships on site 3 to avoid a full copy being necessary –It requires R1.13 or higher z/OS level. The entire sysplex doesn't need to be R1.13 --- you can have a mix of R1.13 and R1.12, so long as the HyperSwap Master is R1.13

© 2014 IBM Corporation 37 Avoid Full Copy on Unplanned HyperSwap in MGM Overview  Planned HyperSwap via TPC-R –Today, when a HyperSwap is initiated by TPC-R in an MGM environment, it is able to perform the swap without later requiring full volume copies in order to allow the customer to switch to their original configuration when they are ready. But not in the case of unplanned HyperSwap.  Unplanned HyperSwap via TPC-R to Avoid Full Copy –Now IOS will provide an interface so that TPC-R can request a Freeze operation to be done to the H2-H3 replication relationship whenever a HyperSwap is performed for the H1-H2 (MM) relationship –After any HyperSwap event (either by TSO command or by event trigger) the H2->H3 pairs will end up suspended and the customer will need to restart the session.
