1 THE AGING FROM “DISEASE” TO BIOGRAPHIC PROCESSES: INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAM AS STRATEGY TO HEALTH PROMOTION Fattori Luca*, Angelo Tesi*, Gian Piero Turchi** *Cooperativa Sociale AltreStrade, Padova, ITALY; **University of Padova, ITALY contact: lab.salute@altrestrade.it Narrativistic Paradigm Reality is not ontologically existent but built starting by discursive modalities, that are knowledge modalities used to generate it. THEORETICAL FRAME OF REFERENCE- THEORY OF DIALOGICL IDENTITY - Dialogical Identity  generated by interconnections between what a person says about itself (personalis), what other people says about that person (alter), and all the possible discursive modalities culturally available (propter omnes) IMPLICATION Medicalization of ageing Low social cohesion High social/health care expenses THE NEED Efficient and Effective Low social/health care expenses Operating model of interventions scientifically based intervention Health promotion* “promotion of different knowledge modalities by those that may generate configurations of reality that contemplate onset of pathology and production of theory about sickness” To obtain GENERAZIONI INSIEME PEROJECT Intergenerational programm operate a shift toward a shared culture where ageing is considered a process managed regarding the health Main strategy of the project: organize home-sharing between “OLDERS” who live alone and “YOUTH” (students, young workers) Through a training they become Informal operator on the territory Older manage what concern the aging they acquire tools to manage the aging process about themselves PROJECT PHASES 1.Starting of the project - To construct a link network between the actors of the territory - To find professional figures qualified for the aim’s reaching 2. Formation of the couples - Who wants to participate to the project is put in the “participant” role** - training of youth - To create the couples 3. couple’s monitoring - To manage the personal modalities used to consider/think about the project - A team of experts verifies how “participant” place themselves toward the project EFFICACY EVALUATION OF THE PROJECT – TOOLS AND METHODOLOGY TO EVALUATE HOW MUCH THE PROJECT’S AIM HAS BEEN TURNED INTO RESULTS AND DEVELOP THE PROJECT IN A PERSPECTIVE OF A CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT TOOLS An ad hoc questionnaire with “opened” questions Allow to note the discursive modalities used by the participants to know and generate the reality “youth” and “older” before and after the project the answers have been analyzed through M.A.D.I.T. (Method of Computerized Textual Data Analysis, 2007) EFFICACY EVALUATION – RESULT Impact on the knowing modalities used to describe “OLDERImpact on the knowing modalities used to describe “YOUTH” Impact on the modalities of knowing used to describe “CRITICAL ASPECTS MANAGEMENT CONCERNING AGEING” CONCLUSION Critical moments connected with aging, (e.g. difficulties in walking the stairs), aren’t elements that characterize a person’s condition (“I don’t go out because I’m old and I’m not able to walk the stairs”) but as an aspect that can be managed through strategies GENERAZIONI INSIEME PROJECT AIM Youthfulness and seniorityseparated category Own health condition evaluated on the base of typical “Youthfulness” standard “Generazioni insieme” project allowed The modification of discursive modalities about the label “youth” and “older” The increase of discursive modalities that doesn’t ratify “youth” and “older” as predetermined and unchangeable conditions * see paper: Braga E., Checchin S., “Health in the territory as shared responsibility” in health psychology session ** see paper: Maiuro T., Michielin E., “Operators training: from “personal identity” to “role identity”” in health psychology session, Symposium: The “chain” of psychiatric emergency according to the Dialogical Model
