7 Imaging and Spectroscopy are Complementary THROUGHOUT the Solar Atmosphere SOHO/SUMER TRACE This is high resolution spectroscopy (HRTS 1978) that first showed the need for High Spatial Resolution (~ or ≤ 0.1") Fine Structure: strands sub- & supersonic (Brekke, 1999) Filling Factor 1%: 0.1" 0.1%: 30 mas UV & FUV

11 Next step of SST (2011-2015) —— Further research of SST according to the guidance of Chinese Space Project Plan etc. Preparing to become the formal space project of Chinese Government in 2011 The payloads for measurements of solar magnetic field etc. The testing ground-base observations of SST Ameliorating the global system of SST
