2 GCSE Maths and English Language 9-1 Started running this year in schools One year Post 16 courses running from September Intended to be a higher standard than current GCSEs New curriculum areas added to the specification, controlled assessments removed from GCSE English Language Legacy resits on old specification will run in November 16 and June 17

4 Changes to Functional Skills Thematic review leading to a more robust qualification. Pearson made fewer changes than some Awarding Organisations. Reduction in scaffolding across level 2 qualifications. Functional Skills Test Inspections.

9 ETF Reform Employer involvement now closed Maths employers report that they want people who can break down and solve problems in a job-specific way, and who have perseverance English employers report that they want people who speak clearly and confidently, and can understand and follow complex oral instructions ETF’s aim is to have updated literacy and numeracy standards in place by August 2016, with first teaching of new FS Maths and English by September 2018.
