3 IEEE Central Texas Section Chapter Updates Generally meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Last year we adopted a year- round calendar. Meetings are held at St. Mary’s University, usually in University Center Conference Room B, or in a lecture room in the Richter Engineering Building. These rooms are available at no cost to the Chapter. Typical Meeting time schedule: 6:15 pm – 7:00pm dinner 7:00 pm – 7:15 pm networking 7:15 pm program We meet for dinner before each meeting in the St. Mary’s Cafeteria downstairs in the University Center. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet for $8.50 plus tax. Each person pays for his or her own meal, with the Chapter usually paying for the guest speaker's meal. We have an area for our group marked with small IEEE Computer Society signs so we can sit together. Dinner is optional. Because of our common interests with Communications and Signal Processing, we have found that joint meetings can be held with those Societies, and will draw interested audiences. With this meeting plan we are able to operate with a small budget for refreshments at each meeting, and the speaker's meal (except Federal employees).

6 IEEE Central Texas Section SWOT Analysis Strengths: The community has a significant number of businesses and universities where potential speakers can be found. Use of vTools eNotice simplifies communication. Weaknesses: Low attendance at meetings from outside the St. Mary’s University community. Officers and volunteers sometimes have conflicting schedules. Opportunities: Good programs should attract better attendance. Cybersecurity theme continues to be viable. Joint meetings with Communications and other Societies also draw more attendance. Threats: Low IEEE Member Attendance gives us a very small pool to search for new leadership. This continues to be an existential threat to the CS chapter in San Antonio.

7 IEEE Central Texas Section Chapter Plans / Issues Monthly Technical meetings in 2016 Quarterly Admin meetings in 2016 Survey of IEEE CS members within our area, to discover interests (program content) and preferences (meeting time, date, location) – using vTools Survey Encourage students and IEEE CS members to use vTools for registration. Work with other chapters in SA to have joint meetings Work with student chapters/advisors to build participation by local students. Small monthly budget for refreshments Small budget for attendance incentives With each eNotice, we attach a printable announcement and encourage posting.
