1 France France is located next to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Luxembourg. France borders the Bay of Biscay and The Mediterranean Sea and The English Channel.

2 France Flag The Blue in the flag is the symbolism of the middle class. The Red in the flag symbolizes the Nobility. The White in the flag symbolizes

3 The Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France. Alexandre Eiffel built the Eiffel Tower. The building of the Eiffel Tower started on July1, 1887 and was completed on March 31, 1889.

4 Alexandre Gustave Eiffel Alexandre Gustave Eiffel was born on December 15, 1832 in Dijon, Cote-d' Or, France. Alexandre attended the Lycee Royal High School where he found class was a waste of time. Eiffel later found that he liked history and literature. For the last two years of attending Lycee Royal High School he studied and graduated with degrees in both science and humanities. He went to Sainte Barbe College in Paris where he studied to get into The Ecole Polytechnique. To get into The Ecole Polytechnigque Eiffel had to take extremely hard exams. He was denied entrance to The Ecole Polytechnique so he attended Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures instead.

5 Zinedine Zidane Zinédine Zidane was born on June 23, 1972 in Marseille, France. His parents were immigrants from Algeria. Zinédine learned to play soccer in the streets of Marseille. At the age of fourteen a talent scout spotted him and so became his shot at superstardom. In 2001 Zidane joined Real Madrid for seventy-eight million Euros and signed a four year contract. Zidane scored the game winning goal with his weak foot to win the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final 2-1 against Bayer Leverkusen. The next season Real Madrid won the Spanish League Title and Zidane was nominated and won the FIFA World Player of The Year Award for the third time in his career. He also won the award in 2000 and 1998. Zidane played his last home game against Villarreal CF in a 3-3 draw in which he scored his last goal. His teammates wore commemorative jerseys saying Zidane 2001-2006 below the logo. Zidane retired after the 2006 season.

6 Government The Government of France is Republic and the Prime Minister of France is Francois Fillon.

7 Religion France has traditionally been a catholic country and today approximately 80% of the population of France ascribe, at least nominally, to the Catholic religion. In reality, however, France is a deeply secular country which seen the role of organized religion in the lives of people in France diminish ever since the revolutions in in1780 and 1804. Many French people who are counted as belonging to the Catholic religion have not been. The vast majority of Catholics in France do not attend church regularly or even at all.

8 Natural Resources The natural resources in France are coal, iron ore, bauxite, zinc, potash, and timber.

9 Livestock The arable land in France is 33 percent. The livestock in France is 19.4 million cattle, 173.7 million chicken, 1.2 million goats, 14.8 million pigs, and 8.9 million sheep.

10 Industires The industries in France are machinery, chemicals, automobiles, metallurgy, aircraft, electronics, textiles, food processing, and tourism.

11 Population The population of France is 63,718,187 of which 62,150,775 live in metropolitan France and the France population density is 258 people per square mile.

12 Life Expectancy The life expectancy of a French male is 77.6 years and a French female life expectancy is 84.1 years.

13 Major Cities The major cities in France are Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, Strasbourg, and Paris. Paris is also there capitol.

14 Ethnic Groups The ethnic groups in France is French, with Slavic, North African, and Basque minorities.

15 Crops The chief crops in France are wheat, cereals, sugar beets, potatoes, and wine grapes.
