7. Meal Service Requirements Offer vs. Serve is an option for all sponsored sites! Offer vs. Serve = opportunity to minimize food waste Breakfast (revised requirements): One serving of fruit/vegetable, One serving of bread/bread alternate, One serving of fluid milk, and One additional serving of fruit/veggie, bread/bread alternate, or a serving of a meat/meat alternate. All the food items offered must be different from each other. A child must take at least 3 of any of the 4 food items offered.

Meal Service Requirements Lunch or Supper: Four components required, must be offered through at least five food items: One serving of meat/meat alternate Two different servings of fruit/vegetable One serving of grain/bread One serving of fluid milk A child must take at least three of the four food components, rather than items, to meet OVS requirements.

9. Meal Service Requirements Snack: Snack requirements remain unchanged. SFSP Snacks must include 2 of the 4 components. *Juice and milk can not be offered as a snack.

10. Children must eat all components of the meal onsite except: – One fruit, vegetable or grain item. Beginning last summer, FNS extended the option of family style meal service to include closed enrolled sites in the SFSP. Meal Service Requirements
