2 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS Listening to Jesus  How have you been listening?  What has He been saying?  What have you been doing?

3 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS Introduction  What really happened at the cross? What was ‘finished’ there?  If I really “get” what happened at the cross, how does that change my life?

4 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS John 3:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

5 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS John 19:25-27 New International Version (NIV) 25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, [a] here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.a

7 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS THE CROSS IS A PLACE OF RELATIONSHIP John 19:26-27 New International Version (NIV) 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, [a] here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.a John 1:12 New International Version (NIV) 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

11 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS What happened at the Cross?  We were Redeemed  Our Relationship was restored with God and others  He gave us the Privilege and Responsibility to Represent Him to the world

12 THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS YOU ARE WHAT JESUS LOOKS LIKE IN THE EARTH TODAY. HOW IS HE CALLING YOU TO REPRESENT HIM?
