1 Major Academic Plan (MAP) Why study Film? The EWU Film program prepares students for creative work in the motion picture and television industry. The coursework provides intensive experience in production and writing, as well as media theory and criticism. Facilities and Projects Film students have access to a variety of electronic media facilities, including radio and TV studios, electronic field production units, and audio and video editing suites. The campus proximity to Spokane provides a wide range of internship opportunities. The senior year in the Film program requires the writing of a classically structured, feature length screenplay and completion of a major film/ video production or theory/criticism project. Acceptance to the Major The program can only be started in a Fall quarter, typically in the Junior, or Third, Year. In order to be accepted into the Film major, all students must have completed the general education requirements. Transfer students with a DTA from a Washington community college are eligible to start the program in a Fall quarter. All other transfers must complete EWU general education requirements before taking Film courses.
