Chapter 3 Review

2. What am I?
I am used to control the direction of the front wheels – When I am turned right, the car moves right, when I am turned left, the car moves left.
I am usually located on the steering column. The engine will not start unless I am turned to the “On” position.
I am used to slow or stop a vehicle. If you tap me even slightly, the brake light will flash.
I am used to control the speed of the vehicle.
I warn you if the vehicle’s electrical system is in trouble.
I remind you to release the parking brake. I also remind you that part or all of the braking system is not working properly.
I show you the number of miles a vehicle has been driven.
I warn you if the coolant in the engine gets too hot.

3. What am I?
I warn you when the engine oil is not circulating at the correct pressure.
In a vehicle with an automatic transmission, you move me to choose forward or reverse gears.
In a vehicle with a manual transmission, I am to the left of the brake pedal.
If I am fitted properly, I help you avoid hitting the inside of the vehicle during a sudden stop or collision.
I am a padded device on the backs of front seats. I help reduce whiplash injuries if the vehicle is struck from the rear.
When I am on, all turn signal lights flash at the same time. I warn others that your vehicle is a hazard or that you are in trouble.
I let you view what is coming from the rear of your vehicle. My adjustment should be checked before you drive.
