2 In accord to the Europe 2020 strategic objectives for an intelligent, sustainable, and inclusive growth, we’ve realized the GLAD project to support and train young entrepreneurs to face off the actual rural challenges. Europe 2020 objective

3 In particular the actual success of rural enterprises and the guarantee of their environmental sustainability is conditioned by a continuous innovation, a new re-invention of products and processes, customized by the market requests and new distribution channels. State of the art

4 Now we are witnesses of a new generation of farms more and more active, dynamic and differentiated enterprises, more integrated in the territorial system, where everything is faster and faster, and the connection between local and global is tighter and tighter. State of the art

5 This is a new challenge for all farmers, and, moreover for young people With the Glad project we want to highlight the importance of training and transfer of knowledge and information to improve the farms’modernization and development towards competitiveness and sustainability. This training course has been created by the responses of questionnaires addressed to best rural cases in each country. Glad project

10 The business management competences seem to become fundamental instruments to realize a success farm business. A manager in rural business must have an olistic preparation that could Managerial competences

11 Business planning is an important part of owning and managing a farm. Producers traditionally go through the business planning process to: Evaluate production alternatives; Identify new market opportunities; and Communicate their ideas to lenders, business partners and family. It begins with the identification of values and ends with a strategic plan to address critical management functions. Business planning (1)

12 Business planning is an on-going, problem- solving process that can identify business challenges and opportunities that apply to farmer’s marketing, operations, human resources and finances, and develop strategic objectives to move the business beyond its current situation toward the farmer’s future business vision. 17 Strategy is defined as a “careful plan or method for achieving an end” Developing a plan to achieve the farmer’s envisioned business, weighing it against other options, considering how the situation might change (market, interest rates, labor, etc.), and how that would affect the plan. A simple rule of thumb to follow when developing strategies is to take advantage of the business’ internal strengths Business Strategies

18 Business strategies are realistic actions that communicate how you plan to reach your goals. There are an endless number of potential strategies that can be developed for each functional area of the business or the farm as a whole. Your task will be to narrow the list of possibilities to those marketing, operations, human resources and financial strategies that best address your critical planning needs, and are compatible with your values, vision and goals. Nowadays, research is advancing at a fast pace and farmers need to know where they can look for the most current technical work. For each type of agriculture and livestock, the training course will propose specialized training based in the topics: –Insertion of new techniques and processes’ research results –Insertion and development of new technologies’ innovation

So it’s important to plan the financial investments by little steps in order to avoid the default of your business.
