Embrace – to hug, to accept willingly or eagerly As soon as the young girl stepped off of the plane, her family embraced her. Desolate – lonely; having no hope; gloomy The school seems very desolate on the weekends when all of the students have gone home. Forlorn – unhappy, miserable, lonely, sad After breaking up with her boyfriend, the girl lay forlornly in her room.
