PAGE 13 ktn-uk.org Work Shop Groups Based on your name badge –Group A will work in the breakout room with Narpal –Group B will work at the front of the main room (here) with David –Group C will work at the rear of the main room with Sarah Please take a coffee with you to your various break-out locations –Very short (name, rank and serial number) introduction –Facilitator will introduce first stage of the discussion ‘WHAT IS DIGITAL HEALTH?’ –Consider: UK perspective in terms of benefits to UK citizens and UK PLC based on Unique UK challenges and opportunities? –Can the UK deliver this?

PAGE 14 ktn-uk.org What is Digital Health? The aim of this part of the day is for each group to consider and debate a range of concepts that might be used to describe digital health. There are clearly numerous potential definitions The exclusion of any definition does not mean that it is ‘out’ for good ! The concepts can be presented in the most appropriate manner: –Mission Statement –Market Segment –Technology based PROCESS HINTS (your facilitator will help) –Use the early part of the session for debate and initial sifting of concepts –Start generating framed ideas around 30 minutes in – use the flip chart. –In the final 15 minutes the concepts generated must be reduced to a ‘top 3’ by each group –The top 3 will be NEATLY written on the submission card / sheet Session 1 of 3

PAGE 15 ktn-uk.org What is Digital Health? - Shortlisting The aim of this session is for everyone to hear the ‘top 3’ concepts for ‘What is Digital Health’ produced by each team The submission cards written out by each group are the input to this session A post-it will be hand written to summarise each concept as it is announced The post-its will be mounted on a flip-chart As each subsequent post-it is generated we will attempt to cluster the ideas The aim is to agree on an aggregate ‘top 3’ If numbers are close in terms of aggregated counts we will invite a representative for each of the competing concepts to act as an advocate The panel will decide on the final order of concepts after advocates have spoken The panel will explain their rationale for any order adjustment The output of session 1 will be 3 concepts for ‘Digital Health’ Session 1 of 3 continued

PAGE 16 ktn-uk.org Session 1 Overview: What is Digital Health What is Digital Health? Group A Group B Group C Consider: UK challenges and unique capabilities 3 Concepts Cluster / debate / panel decision 3 Final Concepts 1 overall ‘winner’

PAGE 17 ktn-uk.org What are the Key Opportunities for the UK, What R&D is required to deliver? The aim of this part of the day is for each group to consider the overall ‘winning’ concept from Session 1 and expand upon it in 3 important areas –What are the potential benefits to UK citizens from this concept? –Where are the business opportunities and over what timescale? –Does the UK have the capacity to deliver or develop the capabilities required? For each area the groups should highlight where R&D is required to maximise benefit. NOTE any one of the top 3 concepts may be chosen but consult with your facilitator before choosing an alternative to the ‘winner’. PROCESS HINTS (your facilitator will help) –Use the early part of the session for debate and initial sifting priorities and issues –Start generating information ready for the worksheet at around 30 minutes in – use the flip chart at this stage. –In the final 15 minutes the worksheet (submission sheet 2) should start to be completed. –Please write neatly to complete the submission sheet Session 2 of 3

PAGE 18 ktn-uk.org What are the Key UK Opportunities? What R&D is required to deliver? - Prioritisation The aim of this session is for everyone to hear the various UK Opportunities generated by the break-out groups The open mic will be used to gain greater understanding of each group’s thinking As the opportunities ware discussed and any R&D ‘gaps’ identified by the group that produced the submission sheet or in the general discussion will be captured on post-its These will be stuck on the flip-chart for subsequent prioritisation Within time constraints the R&D gaps will be listed in order of priority considering any potential interactions The output of this session will be a list of R&D gaps that could become projects (whether or not they are funded by Technology Strategy Board) Session 2 of 3 continued

PAGE 19 ktn-uk.org Session 2 Overview: UK Opportunity and R&D Gaps How can the UK exploit? – Benefit to Citizens and Business Group A Group B Group C Digital Health Concepts Opportunity and R&D Gaps Feedback & discussion. Priority for R&D List of R&D Needs R&D Priority for UK

PAGE 20 ktn-uk.org R&D Project Development Each group will take one of the higher priority R&D Gaps identified in session 2 and expand it into a project scope. The final submission card (No 3) will be used for this session. Complete the various boxes to generate a project scope At the end of the allocated time for this session all groups gather together for the last time in the main room Feedback of the potential R&D projects will be provided by each group The chairman will summarise the R&D challenges identified by the groups Delegates will be invited to comment and any additional considerations or interactions discussed All discussions will be captured on flip chart Session 3 of 3
