2 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact,

3 they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

6 An ongoing, engaging relationship with God Pursue God to know Him more intimately Cost to seeking His face Time in His presence brings intimacy Brings revelation of God’s will Consistency, Place, Privacy, Communion, Pattern Praise, Kingdom Declaration, Daily Provision, Forgiveness & Repentance, Deliverance, Praise

7 Believers know the voice of their shepherd “The sheep hear his voice" v.3 “Sheep follow him, for they know his voice" v.4 “They do not know the voice of strangers" v.5 Need to discern the voice of God in this hour Not easy to do

8 1. We belong to the Shepherd v.2 2. The Shepherd speaks to us uniquely 3. The Shepherd speaks for our benefit 4. Must make room for Him to speak v.2-3 -What prevents us? 1) Fear 2) Personal Comfort 3) Selfishness

9 Through His Word By the Holy Spirit in our minds and hearts Through others (believers & even unbelievers) Through life of Christ John 6:63 Other means (ie. Fasting)
