2  Test Matlab Simulink’s versatility as a SDR platform.  Design a digital communication system using Simulink and USRP2s.  Simulink will be used to generate and process signals on transmitter side.  USRP2 on transmitter side will transmit signals.  USRP2 on receiver side will receive signals.  Simulink on the receiver side will process received signals.  Concept sketch of the prospective system: Computer-1 USRP 2 Computer-2

3 Simulink as a host  Generates and interprets data USRP2  Works as an antenna  Modulates and demodulates signals Network  Determines data route Testing & Logging Host Modulation & Demodulation USRP2

4  USRP2 Data transmission and reception A/D and D/A conversion Up Conversion and Down Conversion  Matlab/Simulink Data generation, digital modulation, demodulation, filtering, error control, synchronization etc. to make data usable. High speed computers needed to process data

5 On Transmitter side,  Generates data  Processes data (modulation, matched filtering) to be ready for transmission via USRP2 On Receiver Side  Receives data from USRP2  Processes data (synchronization, filtering, demodulation) to be usable

6  Sends and receives RF signals  Some daughterboards up converts and down converts data.  Various daughterboards for various carrier frequencies including FM broadcasting, HAM radio, 2.4G, etc..

7  Test MATLAB’s versatility as a platform for SDR  Test digital communication schemes using demo models in MATLAB and various daughterboards in USRP2  Design several schemes of digital communication using MATLAB and implement each design with USRP2s to transmit and receive data  Achieve reasonable accuracy of transmitting and receiving data  System should be able to sustain several scheme designs

8  Testing MATLAB’s versatility as a SDR platform  Testing USRP2s versatility for several analog and digital schemes.
