7 Homework DAILY (M-Th) –20 minutes of Reading –Math POTENTIAL –Science –Social Studies –L.A./Writing Homework is due the day after it is assigned unless noted. Assignments are reviewed before the end of the day so students can complete them independently.

8 Late Policy Pink Slip (half-sheet) –Student’s responsibility to fill out Pink Slip by the end of the day –Student completes late assignment on their own time, gets a parent signature (on Pink Slip), and attaches it to the late work –10% deduction on earned grade Students have until Friday of that week to turn in missing work (If not, grade becomes a zero)

9 Fun Friday Outside activities or educational games in the classroom Students are invited to participate if: –All homework for the week is completed and turned in on-time –Agenda filled out & signed each night

24 Accelerated Reader (AR) AR is a program where students self select books in their independent reading level, read the books, and take comprehension quizzes online. Students are required to earn a minimum of 10 points for the first and second quarter, and 12 points for the third and fourth quarter. AR is approximately 1/3 of the reading grade each quarter. Please see Mrs. Finley’s website for more information.

25 Writing Six Traits of Writing Reading/Writing integration, new standards require to students to read and respond to text in a variety of genres: persuasive, narrative, informative Integrated with all subjects Students will be using “My Access” to edit and revise writing. 5 paragraph format

26 Spelling Weekly lists are from the Journeys curriculum. Students may self-select how they choose to study for weekly tests (usually on Thursday). Students are tested on “Spelling City” on the spelling and the meaning of each word.
