It’s All About Jesus (pt. 2) John 5:39-47; Luke 10

“There’s only one way we could possibly teach [and read] from the Bible and miss the good news—and that’s if we cut it into small sections, each a chapter or less, and teach each piece as if the rest did not exist. Sound familiar?” Jack Klumpenhower – Show Them Jesus

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. … For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” John 5:39-40, 46-47

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, [Jesus] interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:27

1. What does this teach us/show us about Jesus’ work and words?

1. What does this teach us/show us about Jesus’ work and words? 2. What does this teach us/show us about Jesus’ person?

1. What does this teach us/show us about Jesus’ work and words? 2. What does this teach us/show us about Jesus’ person? 3. If this is who Jesus is and what he’s done, how does it change my life? My thinking and my behavior?

But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Luke 10:29-30

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. … For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Romans 5:8, 10

“Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” John 16:13

knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21
