2 THE BASICS The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program provides support for faculty university-wide in implementing writing into their courses. The program aims to create and sustain a community of writers at IUP. Teach. Write. Teach Writing.

5 THE BASICS The College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Office of the Provost committed to creating a university-wide initiative with a multi-faceted agenda: Teach. Write. Teach Writing.

6 FACULTY DEVELOPMENT  Provide faculty development for those teaching writing-intensive courses, including workshops and training for those interested in proposing writing-intensive courses, and support for all faculty across the university in implementing writing assignments into their courses Teach. Write. Teach Writing.

7 CONSULTATION  Provide support and consultation to the university-wide Liberal Studies Committee as needed in revising writing-intensive course requirements  Assist faculty in completing documentation for writing-intensive faculty and course designations Teach. Write. Teach Writing.

8 RESEARCH  Create a research agenda for studying and understanding the effectiveness of how writing is taught and learned in the university curriculum.  Continually collect data from students and faculty on their perceptions of the how writing is taught and learned at IUP.  Assist faculty in creating individual research projects on how writing is taught and learned in their own classrooms. 9 WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS IN THE DISCIPLINES  Connect departments and/or colleges with consultants from professional settings or other universities who are experts in writing in specific fields and can come to IUP to provide workshops, seminars, and meet with faculty to provide resources on the teaching of writing Teach. Write. Teach Writing.

10 FOSTERING COMMUNITY  Foster a community of writers through various modes and media (such as contests, readings, workshops, newsletters, etc.) and relationships (with the Writing Center, the IUP Libraries, and various departments across campus) Teach. Write. Teach Writing.

11 WORKSHOPS Held in the Writing Center (218 Eicher):  Introduction to Writing to Learn  Strategies for Efficiently Grading Student Writing  Approaching Plagiarism Positively  Creating Effective Writing Assignments  Strategies for Teaching Writing in Large Classes  Teaching Grammar Across the Curriculum
