 The useless activity you do that appears important when you are consciously or unconsciously procrastinating about a larger problem.  I want to clean my car today…  But, the hose is still broken, so I need to go to Global to buy a new one…  But, I’ve lost my Global discount card…  But, I could borrow my neighbor Bob’s discount card!  But, he won’t lend it to me, until I return the pillow he lent my son…  But, we didn’t return the pillow, because it broke and some stuffing fell out…  So, I could go to the zoo to shave a yak to get the hair to restuff it!

When I get the feeling to do something, I lie down until the feeling goes away…

 Doing low-priority actions putting off important tasks until later.  Realise you are procrastinating!  Why are you procrastinating?  It’s Psychological!  Fear of Failure?  Low self worth?  Task Aversion? (Or Laziness?)  Deal with it!

 Find your productive time – and defend it at all costs!  Find your unproductive time – and schedule mundane tasks then!

 A great way to reduce your ‘to do’ list.  …but it costs money to delegate!  Delegation tips:  Do the worst job yourself  Be specific  Grant authority & responsibility

 Just Say “No!”  Be Proactive!  Fill your time doing things you want to do, so there is no time left for more work…  A ‘soft’ no! No, No, No!  “OK… I’ll do it if you really can’t find anyone else….”  Teamwork  “I’ll do it if….”

 “You’ve Got Mail!”  How do you get rid of visitors?

 Make your own deadlines!  Just because it is due next Friday, doesn’t stop you setting your own deadline tomorrow!

!!!PLAN AHEA D!!!

 Sometimes, you just have to be “Good Enough”  We can’t always be “Perfect”!
