UNIT 23 LO1

Coverage of action Coverage of action is covering the whole of the live event so the audience have a clear understanding of what is going on and also keeping the audience interested. This is done by using a variety of cameras surrounding the event known as multi camera techniques. This is important because if it’s a live event taking part and the audience miss something it cannot be repeated.

Maintaining interest for the audience Maintaining interest for the audience is done by using varied camera angles and shots to show the audiences responses as to what is going on as this makes the event more interesting for the audience as the story is being told.

Communicating meaning to the viewer Communicating meaning to the viewer is the order in which you put the shots in order to tell the story. This technique is done through different camera shots/angles. This is a good way of showing what is taking place in event using more than one camera makes the story clear for the audience.

Visual Style Visual style is what you can see during the event. The lighting may be different according to what is being shown to create the mood to the audience also the lighting is different depending on who the main character being shown during the event the lighting is mainly focused on them. Camera angles are used to show who is important within the event. The way the editing is done makes an impact on the audience. The clothing gives the audience a visual view on what is going to be spoken about.

Multi – camera simultaneous recording Multi – camera simultaneous recording are cameras recording usually four or more focusing on different parts of the event for example one camera would be focused on the audience the other on the main character and the other on the band if it was a live event. Three or more cameras as used so they can be switched over on the visual mixer so the story can be told as to what is going on.

Constraints of studio or location environment There are both disadvantages and advantages for using the studio to film or outdoors. Using the studio is brilliant for filming as you have lots of equipment which contains Green screen, lights and many other equipment. Outdoors you do not have the equipment which can be used within the studio which is a big disadvantage also outside you have to depend on the weather as it could rain which would mean it would be a big complication to film as you cannot have wires outside in the rain because that would be big danger hazard. On the other hand in the studio you cannot use natural light which could be a disadvantage for the studio were as outdoors you gain natural light. The other major issue within the studio would be the space as there may not be enough were as outdoors you can use as much space as you want and film at your leisure. Noise outdoors is also another major issue as you cannot control outdoor noise for example cars on a road near by would interrupt the filming were as in the studio the noise is your choice of how you have it. Lack of shots are caused within the studio as you cannot film from high points for example a building and look down the studio is very basic. The last advantage with the studio would be using four or more cameras and being able to switch to each of them on the visual mixer were as you wouldn’t have this equipment outdoors.

BAND This camera would be behind the audience focusing on the audience from behind and focusing on the main stage. Picture above would be the view. This camera would be at the bottom of the front of the stage coming from the side of the stage to focus on the main act. Picture below would be the view. This camera would be on the side of the stage focusing on the backing actors. Picture to the left shows the view you would see. This camera would be moving across the front of the stage focusing on the audience. The view you could see is too the right.

This camera would be on the left right at the front of the studio focusing on the main character. The image below shows. This camera would be on the ceiling focusing down on the main character as seen below. This camera would be at the front of the studio low down making the character look important and powerful. This image at the left shows. This camera will be focusing on the character from the right hand side. As seen above.

Beyoncé live at Glastonbury Paramore live at Reading http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8TZipeTneIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8TZipeTneI – Beyoncé http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGmPEaXAzJ0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGmPEaXAzJ0 - Paramore These two events are at 2 of the biggest live festivals Glastonbury and Reading. These events cover coverage of action very well as a variety of cameras are used so therefore the cameras can be switched on the visual mixer. Lots of different shots are used within both of these events this is done to keep the audience interested as a variety of different camera shots are on screen. Majority of the time throughout this events the camera is focused on Beyoncé and Paramore this is done to show who is important within the event. The lighting changes continuously as the background theme is changed in both events to suit the song which is being played. For example a love song the colours would be red to create the mood love. Were as if a rock song is on there may be strobe lights used The camera shots change from the audience to Beyoncé and paramore continuously as this is showing both of there responses.

Mrs browns boy Jeremy Kyle show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGmPEaXAzJ0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGmPEaXAzJ0 – Mrs Browns boy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yliKkw-oe8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yliKkw-oe8 – Jeremy Kyle show Both of these shows are done in a studio as they both have a live audience we know this whilst watching the shows laughing is in the background which is done by the audience on Mrs browns boy or in Jeremy Kyle show there may be booing by the audience. During the Jeremy Kyle show mainly the camera is focused on the people on the show that Jeremy is interviewing but sometimes changes to the people backstage or maybe the audience. This is done by using the visual mixer as the camera shots change we know more than one camera is being used. In Mrs browns boy the shots are changed continuously as a story is being told to the audience. the lighting doesn’t change on the Jeremy Kyle as everything is being shown also the mood and topic stays the same the topic is never changed. In Mrs browns boy the lighting does change as it’s a story also there are different episodes so the lighting does change as to what's going on the camera shots change to show the story continuing this is a good way to keep the audience interested.

My own live Festival event I chose to place my cameras were I did on my own festival event as everything can be shown and the audience wont miss anything also the cameras can be switched on the visual mixer. This is how I would set up my own festival event if I had a choice. My camera angles would change according to what was taking place on stage and were my main character/characters are. The lighting would also change as to what song was going on and what mood it would bring the audience.

My own studio event I chose to place my cameras here on my own studio if I had the option to chose because I believe this would be the best way to make sure everything was shown. My lighting would depend on what was going on in the specific scene. The only down put would be the place I would have within the studio I would have to limit myself.
