The Baasher are one of the many families who lived for many years in Suakin, about sixty kilometers South of Port Sudan and then moved by the British Colonials in order to settle in Port Sudan. Which was then established by the British in 1906 to become the country’s major Port now. Inspiring the future, the Baasher’s saw their future and hopes lay on the sea, so they took a good look at the other coast at the Red Sea and saw the Holy Lands of Islam, hence they ran a ferry company aimed to ferry pilgrims to the Port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The idea then developed in how successfully making use of this newly thriving Port so further efforts and means were sought for openings new niches in the market. That is how the BAASHER FAMILY name got associated with the shipping Industry in Sudan and Red Sea.
